Survey of the Medicaid-Eligible Population
Group: South Carolina Department of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Services
This study consisted of a face-to-face survey of a random sample of 1,210 individuals who were eligible for Medicaid-funded health services. The purpose of the study was to collect and analyze data about alcohol and other drug use by Medicaid recipients and to determine the extent of problems that indicated substance abuse and/or dependence among the population. The study also reflected trends among the respondents with regard to their treatment history and perceived need for treatment. To protect the confidentiality of the respondents, the data was collected for the survey using a digitized voice delivered through headphones while the individual responded to each question through a laptop computer.
