Description

In an effort to reduce criminal court backlogs and to improve the efficiency of the criminal courts, various stakeholders held a conference in January of 2004 to discuss ways of reducing the backlogs. The goal of the conference was to give stakeholders ideas to build individual county plans that would bring the courts in line with the Vermont Supreme Court guidelines set forth in Administrative Order 5. Those guidelines, with a clear emphasis on due process rights, require that all cases be disposed of within 180 days.
