Results of the Mississippi Crime Poll
Group: Mississippi Statistical Analysis Center
We are pleased to provide the second in a recurring series of reports relating the experiences of Mississippi residents as victims of crime as well as their beliefs, perceptions, and attitudes regarding various dimensions of crime and justice. Ideally, the results contained herein will provide state policy makers with relevant empirical information to bridge the gap that often exists between public perception and executive/legislative action. Dimensions such as confidence in local police, prosecutorial discretion, judicial fairness, correctional policy and the death penalty are examined. Suggestions for improving or expanding future versions of the Mississippi Crime Poll as well as questions regarding interpretation or implications are welcome.
