The Cost of Crime
Group: Commission on Criminal and Juvenile Justice
This research examines the economic consequences of various intervention programs that are designed to reduce crime. It is based on a statistical analysis of 309 studies of intervention programs, including the Utah Drug Court study. A primary goal of this research is to present a menu of available programs in a context of comparative economics. This type of analysis provides a menu which allows decision makers to assess the economic performance of one program relative to another in terms of a standard monetary measure.
