Description

This report summarizes the analysis and results of the Blocking or Teaming of Criminal Cases (BOTOCC) pilot in the Fourth Judicial District from January 2011 to March 2012. Since other divisions, such as Family and Civil Court have had success assigning one judge to a particular case, the pilot sought to create a similar system for Criminal Court. In addition, according to a 1999 study by the National Center for State Courts, the Fourth Judicial District is one of the only large urban courts not organized into a separate division for Criminal Court
