Risk of Recidivism Facing Offenders upon their Return to the Community
Group: Michigan Justice Statistics Center
Understanding recidivism is thus a key concern for criminologists, policymakers, and citizens alike. Criminological research has accumulated a body of literature detailing the correlates of recidivism, and more recently attention has shifted to exploring the dynamics of recidivism – including the nature, timing, and contexts of recidivism events. This research study adds to this growing body of literature by providing an in-depth, multi-method exploration of the recidivism process as it was experienced by a small sample of male parolees to Lansing, Michigan during calendar year 2009.
