Trafficking: Case Studies of Five Tracked Guns in Chicago
Group: Chicago Police Department
The Chicago Police Department recovers approximately 10,000 guns every year. Guns are recovered in association with a wide variety of crimes and are often traced back and recovered in the hands of convicted felons who cannot lawfully purchase firearms for themselves. Chicago's Anti-Gun Enforcement Team (C.A.G.E. Unit) works with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) to aggressively pursue and prosecute those people who have straw-purchased and trafficked firearms.
